Poppets

Our Phillomena Poppets Programme is all our classes for Pre-School children up to the age of 6 years old. So, if you are looking for the perfect introduction to dance for your little poppet – you need look no further than Phillomena Dance School.

We are committed to creating an enabling environment and offering a range of exciting activities to allow each child to thrive in every area of learning. We have put our dance, childcare, creative and caring heads and hearts together and devised the perfect Play, Perform and Progressive educational timetable of classes for your poppets.

Personal to you and your Poppet

We take a personal approach to our classes by adapting our planning to strengthen your child’s individual emerging skills and allow them to succeed in their own development, so that all parents are confident that their poppet will be engaged in their learning experience & encouraged to meet those monumental milestones.

Our unique ‘Poppet Passports’ allow your child to collect stickers as they achieve their personal targets both physically and socially, so that you the parent/ carer are also fully engaged in their learning.

    Phillomena Dance School is proud to offer the award winning ‘Disco Duck’ preschool dance and movement classes. Your little poppet will be encouraged to learn the basic foundations of dance, rhythm, coordination, gross motor skills, balance and core strength through the action inspired songs, stories and dances. The lovable Disco Duck character engages your poppet in their learning journey and further encourages them to lead a healthy and active life style.

  • Hip Hop Poppets (3-6 years)

    It’s a party in every class! Your little poppet can strut their funky stuff to the latest tunes (with a few oldies thrown in for good measure!) The class starts with warm ups and isolation exercises, followed by simple dance routines and specialised dance games. Super fun and lively! Your little poppet will also have the opportunity at the end of every term to progress through the IDTA (International Dance Teachers’ Association) ‘Street Rosette’ exam series we offer, a rewarding experience for all their achievements for the past term.

    In this class we continue to build upon the strong foundations accomplished in our Play, Perform and Progress classes. Your little poppets are now encouraged to break free from your apron strings and explore the world of dance. We will take them on a journey of creative discovery, using stories, props and music that will ignite their imaginations and let their intuitive minds & bodies lead their learning. When we feel your poppet is ready to progress to the next level, they will have the opportunity to take their first dance exam ‘Pre-Juvenile Group Award’.

    This is our final age group within the ‘Phillomena Poppets’ Programme. We now introduce new genres of dance which includes Jazz, National & Theatre Craft. We continue to progress the basic Ballet & Tap dance skills already experienced through the ‘Twinkle Toes & Tappy Feet’ classes. However, if you are only just joining our ‘Phillomena Family’ at this level it will not be a problem to enrol into the class at this point. We also offer the IDTA (International Dance Teachers Association) ‘Theatre Rosette’ exam series at the end of every term, which allows your poppet to gain experience of the exam etiquette and also to receive awards & certificates for their accomplishments that term.

  • Acro Poppets

    Our new Acro Poppets classes launched in June 2017. We shall guide your little poppet through their paces working on stamina, flexibility, strength, balance, limbering and tumbling – if they love ‘The Next Step’ & ‘So You think You Can Dance!’ then this is the perfect class for them. We shall follow the Acrobatic Arts Syllabus which is a comprehensive programme that progresses all the required elements to enable the student to safely develop through the grades & therefore help avoid injury.
