About Us

Welcome to our inspirational, nurturing and motivated dance family here at Phillomena Dance School. Our success story began in 1993, when we opened our doors for the very first time starting with just 25 students. Over the last two decades (and some!), Phillomena has continued to grow and flourish and has now become one of Surrey’s most well-known and highly regarded dance schools.

Phillomena is proud to offer exams that follow the International Dance Teachers’ Association (IDTA) syllabus in the following subjects – Ballet, Tap, Theatre Craft, Freestyle & Street. Examinations are not compulsory, however, so that you, the parent, know that the journey your child takes with us is structured & progressive, we offer all children the opportunity to participate.

We also offer our unique Parkinson’s M.E.D.S (move, exercise, dance, socialise) classes within our termly timetable. A fabulous class for anybody living with Parkinson’s and also their carers.

We are super proud to have won the Commitment to Community & Diversity award at the Dance School of the Year presentations in October 2021.

We were also honoured to have been nominated for a Reigate & Banstead Business Award 2021 – Best Community.

We also provide performance opportunities to all our lovely students when we invite them all to be a part of our Bi-Annual Show (next one booked 2024) – the parents of which are always blown away by the exceptional high standard we manage to create in our wonderful productions. We also recently formed a ‘Display Team’ to entertain the masses at local events and charity fund raisers throughout the year. Parents will be able to see the joy their child experiences when they can perform for an audience and the valuable life lessons to be learnt whilst working within a team environment.

Phillomena is exceptionally proud of our many students who have successfully auditioned to perform in shows in the West End and National Ballet companies and also to those older students who have shown true dedication and talent by gaining places in many of the top performing arts colleges around the country.
